ABOUT
Jolene Maleficent is the alter-ego of Robyn Saurine. Jolene came into existence in 2017 when Robyn returned to Australia after a long stint overseas and realised her multiple interests were colliding, and her art deserved a singular voice. The name Jolene Maleficent was chosen as a contradictory term since Jolene is derived from the French word 'pretty' and Maleficent as 'capable of exerting a malignant influence.'
Jolene utilises Robyn's learned skills from studies at NAFA and Lasalle Colleges in Singapore from 2010 to 2013. Then in Florence, Italy where she researched sight-size drawing at Charles H. Cecil Studios and Figure Modelling at Studio della Statuta in 2014. More recently, she is undertaking a Bachelor of Art and Design at Southern Cross University in Lismore NSW Australia and studying ballet and contemporary dance at Sydney Dance Company.
Before her conversion to Jolene, Robyn was an awarded member of the Manhattan Arts International community in New York, held her first solo show in Singapore in 2016, and has exhibited in shows in Singapore, Italy, USA, UK, and Australia. Robyn was also interviewed by Aesthetic Magazine in the UK about her practice in 2016.
